Detect low-literacy Generation-Factual loops and intervene with prompts steering students toward drafting and requesting critique¶

Description¶
The authors propose real-time scaffolding: systems detecting the "Generation-Factual" loop typical of low literacy could intervene with messages such as "You are focusing on content generation. Try drafting your own summary first and asking the AI for critique to improve learning depth." Such data-driven interventions are intended to shift learners from transactional use to epistemic collaboration.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Requires real-time detection of the low-literacy interaction pattern in the prompt stream.
Constraints¶
- The intervention itself was proposed, not tested in this study.
Target Learners¶
- university students using GenAI writing tools
Target Learning Goals¶
- shifting from transactional GenAI use to epistemic collaboration
