Description

Social-belonging interventions, informed by attributional theory, give students a framework for interpreting ambiguous cues about whether they belong — for example, that facing challenges and questioning belonging is normal and "will pass with time". Logel explains such interventions "can, therefore, have significant impacts on people's experiences and outcomes without even changing the actual context or actual cues of belonging they are seeing". The article calls them a notable exception to the general lack of applied implications from belonging theory.
