Description¶
The presentation enumerates three strategies for centering educators in research: to "Empower educators and intentionally shift power dynamics so that they have a voice, especially in research questions", to include educators with diverse backgrounds and expertise, and to structure feedback loops that transform knowledge, actions, or goals of all involved as studies move from abstract design to detailed plans. It presents these as its own recommendations from the Office Hours initiative.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Educators must be included with diverse backgrounds, experiences, and expertise for the strategies to work as described
Constraints¶
Target Learners¶
- K-12 and higher education educators participating in research co-design
Target Learning Goals¶
- Equity-centered, practice-relevant research questions for digital learning platforms
Related Strategies¶
- Anti-oppressive co-design meeting practices: land acknowledgements, shared roles, breakout discussions, multiple input modes
- Inclusive Innovation Process
