Description¶
The article's procedure offers an implementable recipe: a teacher with over 10 years of experience received 20 hours of cooperative learning training, organized heterogeneous groups of four with rotating roles, and ran 21 activities using Think-Pair-Share and RoundTable with similar frequency across Language Arts, Environment Study and Mathematics. Activities were designed to promote the assessed skills through observation, reading, writing, discussion, and elaboration of Venn diagrams from images, texts and videos.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Teacher training in cooperative learning before implementation
- Heterogeneous groups with rotating role assignment
- Activities structured around the five cooperative elements
Constraints¶
- The control teacher had no cooperative learning training, so training co-occurred with the method in the experimental condition
Target Learners¶
- 4th grade primary students
Target Learning Goals¶
- Observation, interpretation, analysis (inferences), and argumentation
Affordances¶
