Description

The authors recommend that, regardless of educational platform, instructors embed Makiguchian value-creating principles in undergraduate course learning objectives so that learning pursues "not only... their own individual happiness, but also for the broader societal context". Because both instructors and students in the studies weighted personal gain most heavily, making beauty and social good explicit objectives is intended to encourage more transformative reflection and action and to prompt educators to view teaching through a lens they have not used before.
