Subclaims¶
Reading the evidence codes
q is the design tier, i the impact, n the sample, and the kind with its r
the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.
This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.
q3 i? The BM group showed a significantly greater pre-to-post improvement on fraction questions than the combined control group (Group × Time: F(1, 388) = 31.20, p < .001). → Jensen 2026

Linear mixed-model analysis of the cluster-randomized (with quasi-experimental COVID deviation) intervention in 309 children, BM n = 184 vs combined control n = 125, testing before and after the 8-week program. The "Group × Time interaction was significant" for fractions; within-group, BM improved (p < .001) but controls did not (p = .30).
"For fraction questions, the Group × Time interaction was significant, F(1, 388) = 31.20, p < .001. Post hoc comparisons showed a significant difference between groups at post-test (p < .001), with the BM group improving more over time."
Discussion¶
Related Claims¶
- The intervention effects on mathematics are robust across model specifications and did not differ between RCT and COVID-affected implementation contexts — related
- The intervention does not change general motivation for mathematics measured by the SRQ-A — related
- In-session autonomy, competence and intrinsic motivation are higher during basketball mathematics than during classroom mathematics — related
- Low-post shooting shows no group differences, only a small comparable improvement across all groups — related
- Slalom dribbling improves equally with basketball mathematics and basketball-only PE, and not in regular PE — related
