The author's own content analysis coded 70 items from the 8 most prominent quantitative belonging measures used in 18 educational and social psychology journals between 2013 and 2023, across 80 studies in 62 articles. The coding found "61 of the 70 items" assessed social connectedness or non-specific belonging; Table 1 reports 33 social fit, 28 general, 5 goal fit, 3 self-concept fit, and 1 resource fit item.
"This means that 61 of the 70 items that made up these prominent measures of belonging assessed either students' sense of social connectedness at school, or non-specific feelings of belonging at school."
