the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.
This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.
q2 i2 Early perception misalignment (|d| at t1) correlates negatively with final project score (Spearman rho = -.201, p = .03), and robust regression confirms the association controlling for prior performance. → Laura Graf 2026

Observational three-wave survey study of 103 student pairs in an introductory programming course; bivariate association between team-level misalignment at t1 and the instructor-assigned project grade (M = 95.9, SD = 5.1). The article prints an effect size for this finding: "the Spearman correlation ρ = −.201 (p = .03)". Robust regression confirmed the association controlling for prior performance.
"Teams whose members had higher misalignment in their AI use perceptions at the beginning of the project tended to receive lower scores, as captured by the Spearman correlation ρ = −.201 (p = .03) between early perception misalignment (|d| at t1) and the project score."
Discussion¶
Related Claims¶
- Teams whose perception of who uses more AI reversed between t1 and t3 achieved lower scores than teams with stable perceptions — related
- Perception alignment improves mainly in the early weeks and does not consistently decrease through the project — related
- Prior programming performance moderates the misalignment–performance association, with the cost concentrated in lower-performing teams — a narrower finding that bears on this claim
- Week 3 performance differs by perception-transition group, with Aligned teams increasing and Multifaceted teams decreasing in scores — related
