q is the design tier, i the impact, n the sample, and the kind with its r
the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.
This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.
q2 i? Increases in high-beta inter-brain coupling between consecutive waves positively predicted changes in test scores in both Chinese and math in the full sample. → Xiaomeng Xu 2026

Dynamic Bayesian LME analysis of longitudinal wearable-EEG hyperscanning data from 107 students across 393 classes, relating wave-to-wave coupling change (ΔTI) to score change after controlling for baseline TI. The high-beta effects were "positively associated with improvements in student scores" in both subjects, with 95% HPDIs excluding zero and nonparametric p < 0.05.
"For both Chinese and math, increases in ΔTI within the high -beta frequency band were positively associated with improvements in student scores across the full sample (Chinese: posterior mean = 0.256, 95% HPDI [0.003, 0.516]; math: posterior mean = 0.266, 95% HPDI [0.042, 0.483])."
Discussion¶
Related Claims¶
- Dynamic coupling-improvement effects are grade-dependent, significant in junior but not senior students — related
- Coupling effects are limited to contiguous waves and do not generalize across subjects — reports the opposite
- Outcome-related inter-brain coupling is frequency-specific: theta for Math and alpha for Chinese, with no significant correlations in the beta bands — related
- Peer-based inter-brain coupling predicts math improvement only via class-average coupling and shows subject-specific static patterns — related
- Static same-wave student-teacher inter-brain coupling is negatively associated with concurrent math performance — related
- The coupling-performance relationship differs across baseline achievement groups — related
