Reading the evidence codes
q is the design tier, i the impact, n the sample, and the kind with its r
the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.
This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.
q3 i1 Neither the study nor the WWC found a statistically significant effect on the WJ–R Calculation subtest, but the effect was positive (effect size 0.30) and large enough to be considered substantively important under WWC criteria. → What Works Clearinghouse 2010

Posttest math finding from the Torgesen et al. (2001) RCT (n = 50), as tabulated in the report's math appendix. The printed effect size of 0.30 on the Calculation subtest (mean difference 4.0, improvement index +12) was not statistically significant but exceeded the 0.25 substantively-important threshold; the report states "the effect on the Calculation subtest was positive and large enough to be considered substantively important".
