Reading the evidence codes
q is the design tier, i the impact, n the sample, and the kind with its r
the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.
This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.
q1 i? The author finds the low correlation difficult to explain, ruling out the grading system and noting that conflicting results are reported across schools and investigators. → E. B. Skaggs 1918

The author's interpretive discussion of the low correlation: possible factors named are the mostly female sample (the Army tests being especially for men), the one-term basis of school standing, and Stern's point that school performance depends on factors beyond intelligence. Some investigators find very satisfactory correlation while others find very low correlation.
"Why we have obtained such a low correlation is difficult to explain. We cannot blame the grading system, for the Normal School upholds a good standard."
