Subclaims¶
Reading the evidence codes
q is the design tier, i the impact, n the sample, and the kind with its r
the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.
This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.
q3 i3 For MD-only students, both fact retrieval tutoring conditions outperformed procedural computation/estimation instruction and control on fact retrieval, with large effect sizes. → Powell 2009

Follow-up Tukey comparisons in the randomized trial (n = 139) showed MD-only students in both fact retrieval conditions beat PROC/E and control students. Discussion reports effect sizes of 1.11 and 0.96 versus PROC/E and 1.50 and 1.19 versus control.
"for MD-only students, the two fact retrieval tutoring groups did not differ from one another, but each outperformed the PROC/E group (p < .0159 and p < .0051, respectively) as well as the control group (p < .0089 and p < .0028)"
