q2 i1 The WWC found the CMA-A Composite finding (effect size 0.35) not statistically significant after a multiple comparisons correction, reversing the original study's reported significance. → U.S. Department of Education 2013

WWC re-analysis of the PCER Consortium (2008) randomized trial's CMA-A Composite outcome (297 children). The original study reported the contrast as statistically significant using an ANCOVA approach including the baseline pretest, but the WWC's correction for multiple comparisons changed the significance determination. The printed effect size was 0.35.
"Due to the multiple comparisons correction, the p-value of 0.05 for the CMA-A Composite outcome measure was higher than the critical p-value for statistical significance; therefore, the WWC does not find the result to be statistically significant."
