This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.
q3 i3 After adjusting for age, gender and school, resistance strength (r=0.41), explosive strength (r=0.32), agility and speed, aerobic endurance (r=0.49) and flexibility (r=0.37) correlate positively with academic achievement, while balance does not (r=0.21, p>0.05). → Cancela J 2019

Cross-sectional partial correlation analysis of 713 adolescents, adjusted for age, gender and school level, relating nine physical fitness tests to school-record academic achievement. The study reports "aerobic endurance (r=0.49, p<0.001)" as the strongest correlate and balance as non-significant.
"Resistance strength (r=0.41, p<0.001), explosive strength (r=0.32, p<0.05), agility and speed (r= −0.30, p<0.05, r=0.33, p<0.001), aerobic endurance (r=0.49, p<0.001, r=0.49, p<0.001) and flexibility (r=0.37, p<0.001, r=0.35, p<0.001) have a positive influence on students’ AA, while balance (r=0.21; p>0.05) does not."
Discussion¶
Related Claims¶
- Fitness associations with academic achievement are attenuated or disappear after adjustment for BMI and cardiorespiratory fitness, indicating inter-dependence — reports the opposite
- Inhibition/interference, working memory and processing speed correlate with adolescent academic achievement, while cognitive flexibility and social skills do not — related
- Specific physical fitness components are differentially associated with specific executive function domains in adolescents — related
- Gender differences appear in academic achievement and several cognitive parameters but not in inhibition/interference or social skills — related
- Field-based cardiorespiratory fitness is positively associated with writing and written expression skills in children with overweight/obesity — related
