Reading the evidence codes
q is the design tier, i the impact, n the sample, and the kind with its r
the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.
This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.
q2 i1 Among self-concept-by-specific-value-component interactions, only self-concept × low cost significantly predicted achievement (β = .10); the other component interactions were nonsignificant. → Guo 2016

Models D2–D5 added self-concept-by-component interactions one at a time alongside the self-concept-by-global-value interaction in the LMS SEM of 1,868 ninth-graders. Only the low-cost interaction reached significance for achievement (β = .10); interactions with intrinsic, attainment, and utility value were nonsignificant for all outcomes.
"However, only path coefficients from interactions between self-concept and low cost to achievement were statistically significant (β = .10; see Figure 2D). The inclusion of additional interaction between self-concept and specific value components did not alter the pattern of results"
Discussion¶
Learner Variables¶
- Academic Self-Concept — predictor: learners who differ on it differ in outcomes
- Interest — predictor: learners who differ on it differ in outcomes
Related Claims¶
- Different value components differentially predict outcomes: low cost for achievement, attainment value for effort, and utility value uniquely predicting none — related
- Self-concept and global value interact synergistically and positively in predicting achievement, effort, and teacher-rated engagement — related
- Math self-concept is more highly correlated with intrinsic value and low cost than with attainment and utility value — related
