q2 i? IVW regression implied maternal education related to fewer depressive traits but more ADHD-inattention traits, while MR-Egger, MR-Median, and MR-Modal estimates were consistent with the null. → Hughes 2024

Two-sample summary-data MR sensitivity analysis assessing horizontal pleiotropy, using SNP-level associations for the 1729 SNPs in the education PGI. IVW estimates named above; "Estimates from MR-Egger, MR-Median, and MR-Modal were consistent with the null" and the MR-Egger intercept crossed the null for all outcomes, indicating little evidence of pleiotropy. In the 510-SNP subset only IVW maternal education on ADHD-inattention (0.07) was distinguishable from the null.
"Using all SNPs included in the PGI (Supplementary Table 8), inverse variance weighted (IVW) regression implied that more years of maternal education were related to fewer depressive traits (−0.04, CI:−0.08,−0.01) and ADHD-hyperactivity traits (−0.04, CI: −0.08, 0.00), but more ADHD-inattention traits (0.06, CI: 0.02, 0.10) in children."

Related Claims¶
- Children's own polygenic index for educational attainment is negatively associated with their ADHD traits at age 8, independent of parental PGIs — related
- In complete-case sensitivity analyses, maternal education showed unexpected positive associations with children's depressive and ADHD-inattention traits — related
- Non-genetic models show small negative associations between parents' years of education and children's depressive traits, which attenuate once confounders are accounted for — related
- Within-family Mendelian randomization finds little evidence that mothers' or fathers' educational attainment causally affects children's depressive, anxiety, or ADHD traits at age 8 — reports the opposite
- Children's own polygenic index for educational attainment is negatively associated with their depressive traits at age 8 — related
