Reading the evidence codes
q is the design tier, i the impact, n the sample, and the kind with its r
the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.
This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.
q3 i? The preregistered second wave of data collection replicated the first wave's finding that both control groups showed higher asymptotic accuracy than children with DD. → Pasqualotto 2025

Preregistered replication wave with 87 native Italian-speaking children (29 per group), analyzed with the same continuous-time learning model. In Wave 1 (n = 70) the same pattern held (age-matched vs. DD mean = 0.363). The article states the two-wave design "provides robust evidence for the observed patterns".
"In our preregistered Wave 2 (n = 87) 52, we replicated the finding that both age-matched and reading-matched groups demonstrated higher asymptotic accuracy in the learning task than children with DD (age-matched vs. DD mean = 0.706, CI95 = [0.541,0.932]; reading-matched vs. DD mean = 0.28, CI95 = [0.136,0.436]"
Discussion¶
Related Claims¶
- Children with developmental dyslexia reach lower asymptotic accuracy in non-linguistic audio-visual associative learning than age-matched and reading-matched typically-developing peers — possibly the same claim (merge candidate)
- In a four-wave MOOC intervention study, statistically significant first-wave findings failed to replicate in subsequent preregistered waves — a broader claim this one bears on
- Children with dyslexia performed lower than both control groups on reading, reading-related and cognitive skills except nonverbal reasoning and syntactic comprehension — related
