Educational indicator system for monitoring Chicago school reform progress¶
Element · All elements
Evidence · no claims cited
Description¶
A proposed system to monitor critical aspects of schooling and regularly report to diverse audiences, including individual schools charting their own progress and the broader public concerned with citywide educational conditions. The Consortium proposes developing and implementing this indicator system as a core part of its continuing work, grounded in a conceptual framework generated through stakeholder consultation. It is intended to answer the recurring stakeholder question of how the reform effort is doing.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Information must be systematic and pertinent to an overall understanding of the school, since isolated facts and anecdotes will not help local policy makers understand their school's problems and possible solutions
Constraints¶
- Data should in principle be relevant to measuring progress toward goals stated in each school's School Improvement Plan
Target Learners¶
- Chicago Public Schools students and the school communities serving them
Target Learning Goals¶
- monitoring student learning, school program quality, and governance reform progress
Related Elements¶
- Individualized school reports (ISRs) tracking schools on core research-linked indicators
- Consortium on Chicago School Research five-year research agenda 2004-2008 by topic and study type
- Evidence-based public informing agenda on reform progress and challenges
