Description¶
The Early Reader Skills Scaffold is a series of practice activities given to students categorized as early readers or pre-readers. Each activity is relatively short, featuring 4-7 targeted items, builds on previous activities, and repeats words and sounds to help students feel successful. The sequence, designed with Dr. Katie Pace Miles and tested with kindergarten and grade 1 classes, moves from letter/sound introduction through Letterflies, Up and down, Elkonin box, Change one part, word lists, and easy decoding sentences.
