Description¶
EarthTime is an interactive geospatial data-visualization platform developed and maintained by CREATE Lab at Carnegie Mellon University for exploring large datasets through maps and time-lapse imagery.
Components¶
- EarthTime data visualizations provide interactive, time-lapse representations of large data sets for classroom discovery: EarthTime, from the CREATE Lab, is a data-visualization technology used in the session to let students watch satellite time-lapse imagery of places such as Las Vegas, Lake Mead, and Dubai. The deck states the lab "provides interactive and visual representations of large data sets which reveal patterns that encourage discovery and facilitate communication." Teachers slow the playback, hone in on small areas, and capture gifs of change over time. (Computational Thinking Boosters: Data et al. (2020))
