Description¶
A named family-engagement improvement framework or playbook that organizes work around capacity, process, infrastructure, and outcomes for adoption by schools and education organizations.
Components¶
- Four facets of meaningful and effective family engagement: The report organizes its analysis of effective family engagement around four facets: "communication; shared decision-making; connections, trust, and mutual respect; and cultural inclusiveness." It holds that authentic engagement is a collaboration that "involves shared decision-making, trust, mutual respect, and should be asset based and culturally responsive," and that engagement strategies mainly bringing parents into the school building tend to be less effective than programs linking families to children's learning at home. The report uses these facets to structure its survey findings and recommendations. (Morgan et al. (2024))
