Description¶
A self-report assessment developed by Xiaoqi Wang et al. that measures six dimensions of GenAI-supported self-regulated learning in L2 writing, with full and abbreviated forms for learners experienced in GenAI-assisted writing.
Components¶
- GenAI-SRL scale (34-item six-dimension instrument) and GenAI-SRL-12 short form: A self-report questionnaire measuring GenAI-supported SRL in L2 writing on seven-point scales, with six subscales (cognitive, metacognitive, motivational, affective, social-behavioral, environmental regulation). Items were adapted from existing SRL writing scales, refined through interviews with 12 learners and expert content validation (I-CVI of 1.00 required), reducing a 50-item pool to 42 items and then 34 after EFA. The ACO-derived "12-item abbreviated form... retained the psychometric properties of the full-length instrument." (Xiaoqi Wang et al. (2026))
Claims¶
- The GenAI-SRL scale shows satisfactory reliability, convergent validity, and discriminant validity across its six dimensions [+M]
- The GenAI-SRL scale achieves measurement invariance across gender groups at metric and scalar levels [+M]
- An ACO-derived 12-item short form (GenAI-SRL-12) retains the full scale's factor structure, reliability, and construct equivalence [+M]
