Components

• Illinois KIDS: a statewide observational KEA based on the DRDP-K with mandatory professional development: Illinois has used the Kindergarten Individual Development Survey statewide since 2017; the report calls it 'the most populous state in the United States to require a comprehensive KEA.' KIDS is based on the DRDP-K, and of three assessment versions only the shortest, the State Readiness Measures, is required, including 14 items measuring approaches to learning, social and emotional learning, language and literacy, and mathematics. Scores are based on teacher observation over multiple authentic activities in children's natural classroom settings. The state provides mandatory implementation workshops with substitutes, tailored coaching, and an annual summit, and publishes aggregated state-level KEA data annually. (Yun et al. (2021))
