Description

An open-source platform developed by the INJECT team for delivering tabletop exercise scenarios, coordinating team interactions, and recording activity data for assessment.

Components

  • INJECT Exercise Platform (IXP) with integrated automated team-assessment methods: The IXP is an open-source learning platform for tabletop exercises in which teams interact only with teammates and the platform, which delivers scenario messages and logs each team's activity, e.g., milestone achievements, tool usage, and email responses. In this study the TTXs were conducted in-person using the IXP, instructors role-played actors via email, and the platform recorded the log data that both assessment methods consumed. The IXP team has since incorporated the paper's assessment methods into the latest version of the platform. (V. Švábenský et al. (2026))
  • INJECT Process: five-phase lifecycle for designing, executing, and reflecting on digital tabletop exercises: The INJECT Process is "a way to design, execute, and reflect TTXs with the IXP" consisting of five phases inspired by design thinking: understanding, specification, preparation, execution, and reflection. It leverages best practices for instructional design and TTXs and is tailored to digital TTXs with the platform's features. Each phase has a defined purpose, from establishing whether the exercise is worth building to post-exercise analysis and improvement of future runs. (J. Vykopal et al. (2026))
