Description¶
An electronic storyboarding tool that lets pupils construct visual representations of texts using characters, images, backgrounds, speech and thought bubbles, and captions.
Components¶
- kar2ouche storyboarding tool for visualizing Macbeth: kar2ouche is "an electronic storyboarding tool, which allows pupils to construct their own visual representations of Macbeth in a series of frames". Pupils insert characters, pictures and backgrounds, adjust size, position and pose, and add speech bubbles (for Shakespeare's dialogue), thought bubbles (for their interpretation), and a caption box (for their reasons). It computerises traditional storyboarding to simplify frame construction and make Shakespeare more enjoyable, while supporting exam preparation. (Christian Greiffenhagen (2011))
Claims¶
- Pupils often neglected the caption box although they were aware of it, displaying a divergent orientation to the teacher's aims [~M] (pupils left kar2ouche's caption box empty)
- Making rounds minimizes off-task behaviour because pupils monitor for the teacher's approach and adjust their behaviour [+M] (observed in kar2ouche lessons)
