Description¶
KBDeX is a social network analysis tool developed by Oshima and colleagues for visualizing and analyzing collaborative ideas and discourse in knowledge-building communities.
Components¶
- KBDeX (Knowledge Building Discourse Explorer) social network analysis tool used to visualize collaborative ideas and discourse for student reflection: KBDeX is "a social network analysis tool designed to visualize and represent collaborative ideas and discourse" (Oshima et al., 2012). Its primary purpose is "to analyze online discourse data to depict community advances", and it is used mostly by researchers; in this study the authors developed KBDeX output as visualization diagrams that students used as feedback on their ongoing Knowledge Forum discussions. Visualizations included growth curves of the cumulative degree centrality of ideas and idea network maps, which PSTs were taught to read and use for reflection and assessment of their discourse. (Yang et al. (2022))
