Description¶
MAP Growth Goal Explorer is an NWEA software tool that helps teachers, families, and students set fall-to-spring growth goals and compare projected scores with academic benchmarks.
Components¶
Claims¶
- Aspirational Growth defaults to 60th-percentile growth (met by about 40% of similar students) and is selectable from the 55th to 95th percentile in 5-percentile increments [+W]
- Average growth maintains rather than improves a student's achievement percentile; growth must exceed average for a student to gain ground [+W]
- Fall-to-spring growth rates in high school grades, particularly in reading, are often close to zero and can be negative [~W]
- Pursuing unrealistic goals can lead to discouragement and frustration, so goals should balance rigor with realism [+W]
