Description¶
MyTeachingPartner–Secondary is a University of Virginia Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning professional-development programme that combines a video library of effective teacher–student interactions with individualized web-based coaching for secondary teachers.
Components¶
- MyTeachingPartner–Secondary: video library plus web-based individualized coaching for secondary teachers: MTP-S is a professional development program aiming to increase student learning through improved teacher–student interactions. Teachers access "a video library featuring examples of high-quality interactions" and receive web-based coaching approximately twice per month. It uses the CLASS-S to define and observe effective teaching practices, and is available in a direct teacher support model and a coach support ('train-the-trainer') model. - CLASS-S organizes effective secondary teaching into three domains of teacher-student interaction: The Classroom Assessment Scoring System–Secondary (CLASS-S) defines and observes effective teaching practices in MTP-S. Its dimensions are organized into three domains: "(1) Emotional Support", "(2) Classroom Organization", and "(3) Instructional Support", each with named dimensions such as positive climate, behavior management, and quality of feedback.
