Description¶
Neurone is a web-based platform that supports online inquiry by helping students search texts, select and contextualize snippets, evaluate sources, and compose integrated writing.
Components¶
- Neurone web-based platform with snippet selection and writing tools for online inquiry: Neurone is a web-based platform on which students completed a four-phase online inquiry task: searching for texts, reading and selecting snippets, evaluating credibility, and composing an article. The snippet tool let students highlight and save up to two snippets per text (maximum 20 words each); the writing tool displayed selected snippets beside the writing space and let students open the source page with snippets highlighted in context. Copy-paste from snippets was blocked, and both tools were designed to save cognitive resources for integration. (Kullberg et al. (2023))
Claims¶
- Sixth graders mostly select relevant ideas well from multiple online texts when using a snippet tool [+M]
