Description¶
NFTE's Startup Summer is an intensive business-startup programme that supports selected high-school students from under-resourced communities through boot camp, coaching, funding, and a public pitch event.
Components¶
- NFTE Startup Summer intensive business startup program: Startup Summer is NFTE's most intensive startup program, targeting a select group of students ready to launch the business they planned in Owning Your Future or Startup Tech. It begins with a Boot Camp week in which students set goals, create marketing materials, and plan initial launch steps; participants then meet three times per week for six weeks, receive an investment grant and stipend, meet volunteer business coaches, and can pitch in a Shark Tank-style event. Since 2011 approximately 150 students have participated. (Nakamoto et al. (2017))
