Description

OnRamps is a University of Texas dual-credit programme in which high school teachers deliver UT-designed and supported college-level courses to high school students, who may choose whether to accept the resulting college credit.

Components

  • OnRamps dual credit program (University of Texas): OnRamps, established in 2011 by the University of Texas, offers virtual dual credit courses "taught by high school teachers but designed and supported by OnRamps staff and UT faculty." Courses require no placement assessment, so students whose test scores or grades may not convey readiness can still access advanced coursework, and students can choose to accept or decline college credit depending on their goals and performance. The program also offers free online professional development for virtual and hybrid educators on the TEA website and has served as a model for other institutions of higher education across Texas.
