A framework developed and used by the ATS Hub to organize field-building around five conditions intended to strengthen and coordinate education R&D.

Strong Field Framework adapted to Breakthrough R&D in Education with five conditions: The ATS Hub adapts the Bridgespan Group's Strong Field Framework to education R&D, premised on the idea that field building is a lever for social change. The adapted version "identifies five conditions for a strong field: shared language and identity, essential practices, knowledge base, leadership and ecosystem, and pathways to success." Essential practices are "a set of agreed upon methods, standards, and processes that a field recognizes and adopts to achieve its goals." The framework guides the Hub's effort to codify practices so the field can mature into a coordinated ecosystem producing breakthroughs at scale. (Higgins et al. (2026))
