Each card holds a printed text prompt behind a plastic sleeve and an activation strip that plays a recording of up to 10 s when inserted into the pod. In this study eight cards per target word carried the word, definition, example sentences, and fill-in-the-blank items, giving naïve tutors audio models so they could provide correct modeling and feedback.
