Description¶
The review recommends that future systematic searches extend beyond the term "work integrated learning" combined with "digital", "online", "technology" and "virtual". It states that "Additional search terms such as, "work-based learning", "internship", "placement practicum" and "ICT" could be used in future research to ensure a wider scope and coverage of the literature", and that future studies should consider broader bibliographic databases such as Web of Science and Google Scholar, which this study avoided due to irrelevant results.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Future reviews should add terms such as work-based learning, internship, placement practicum and ICT, and consider broader bibliographic databases

Target Learners¶
- higher education students in work integrated learning
Target Learning Goals¶
- understanding the scope of technology-supported and technology-delivered WIL
Related Strategies¶
- Future AI-SRL research should broaden search strategies, include educators and younger learners, address motivation, and apply longitudinal designs
- Boolean Operators
- Direct Instruction: Keyword Search
- Use the Mentefacto Map to define keywords and inclusion/exclusion criteria in systematic reviews
