Hypothetical fallback questions for unexperienced course features¶
Strategy · All strategies
Evidence · no claims cited
Description¶
For features students have not encountered, the protocol instructs switching to a hypothetical framing. If the student says the course has not included real world topics, the interviewer asks how inclusion of such topics would impact learning; likewise for racial and cultural connections, and for feeling welcomed, the interviewer can ask what could be done or to reflect on a time the student did not feel welcomed in a course. This preserves data even when a feature is unused.
