Description¶
The TAN project organizes K-8 computing learning in Kentucky around two complementary taxonomies: five key concepts of computer science and seven big ideas of technology. The deck prints the CS concepts as "Networks & the Internet, Using Algorithms & Programming, Data Analysis, Computing Systems, Impacts of Computing" and the technology big ideas as roles such as "Computational Thinker", "Creative Communicator", and "Innovative Designer". These frameworks guide how CT might be taught in schools and which session topics the boosters address.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Session topics and guiding questions should map onto the five CS concepts and seven technology big ideas
Constraints¶
- Framing is specific to Kentucky's K-8 technology and computer science context
Target Learners¶
- K-8 students in Kentucky, taught by teachers in the TAN professional development
Target Learning Objectives¶
- CS concepts (networks, algorithms and programming, data, systems, impacts) and technology big ideas (e.g., computational thinker, digital citizen)
Claims¶
