Description

The article proposes a framework of teacher agency as a complex dynamic system. It states that "teacher agency is a system composed of multi-layers of subsystems" and that agency is "a product of the constant interaction amongst these interconnected and interdependent subsystems". Seven key subsystems are named: value system, environment, self-identity, andragogical/pedagogical competency, reflection, reaction to demands, and experiences, each containing further subsystems. The framework was derived from one teacher's semester-long trajectory in a blended classroom.
