The PCER Consortium (2008) randomized trial assessed oral language with the PPVT-III and TOLD-P:3 Grammatic Understanding subtest in 14 classrooms (197 children). Appendix C.1 reports effect sizes of 0.12 (PPVT-III) and 0.18 (TOLD-P:3), p > 0.05, domain average 0.15; the WWC characterizes this as "an indeterminate effect".
"The authors did not find statistically significant differences between the Bright Beginnings group and the comparison group on either measure, and the effect sizes were not large enough to be considered substantively important according to WWC criteria."
