Reading the evidence codes

q is the design tier, i the impact, n the sample, and the kind with its r the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.

This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.

q3 i0 Treatment-school students had significantly fewer days absent than PSM comparison students in both 2021/22 (g = 0.86) and 2022/23 (g = 0.91). → Gage 2024

Multilevel models of days absent for students present before the pandemic, using 2019/20 absences for baseline equivalence (baseline means 12.6 vs 14.8 days; equivalence g = 0.138) and controlling for demographics and baseline absences. Treatment estimates were -12.68 (2021/22) and -13.19 (2022/23) days, both p < .001.

"We found a statistically significant treatment effect for both implementation years, suggesting that students in treatment schools had significantly fewer days absent than PSM students in comparison schools. The effect sizes were g = 0.86 for the 2021/22 school year and g = 0.91 for the 2022/23 school year."
