Reading the evidence codes

q is the design tier, i the impact, n the sample, and the kind with its r the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.

This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.

q2 i3 Participants and controls did not differ at the start, but participants scored higher on social awareness at the end of the course (F(1,33) = 5.46, p = 0.026, η²p = 0.14). → Schutte et al. 2018 q2 i? The anticipated group × pre-post interaction for social awareness was not significant (F < 1). → Schutte et al. 2018 (2)

q2 · i3 · causal · r1

Pre-posttest with control group using the Social Awareness Scale from the Shared Futures Survey (SA: N participants = 19, N control = 16). A simple effect showed "a trend of an increase among participants F(1,35) = 2.77, p = 0.10, N2p = 0.08". The printed endpoint effect size is η²p = 0.14 (printed as N2p = 0.14), a large partial eta-squared.

"Further, although participants did not differ from the control group at the beginning of the course, F(1,33) = 1.90, p = 0.18, N2p = 0.06, they scored higher on social awareness at the end of the course, F(1,33) = 5.46, p = 0.026, N2p = 0.14."

The same factorial repeated-measures analysis of the SFS social awareness subscale found no significant group × pre-post interaction; the increase trend within participants was untested against controls.

"However, no significant difference in the increase of social awareness between the participants and control group was found. The analysis did not show the anticipated interaction F < 1."
