Reading the evidence codes

q is the design tier, i the impact, n the sample, and the kind with its r the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.

This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.

q3 i1 Six of seven studies reported significant positive associations between speed and agility and mathematics performance, with correlations of r = 0.18–0.20; longer shuttle run times were inversely related to mathematics performance. → Macdonald Kirstin 2018

Review synthesis of seven observational studies, six using the shuttle run. Two studies reported "significant very weak to weak positive associations (r = 0.18–0.20)"; three studies reported shuttle run times "significantly but inversely associated with mathematics performance, with longer shuttle run test times related to poorer mathematics performance"; one jumping-task study was non-significant.

"Overall, summary coding suggests there was a strong level of evidence to support very weak-to-weak positive associations between speed and agility and mathematics performance (see Table 1)."
