Reading the evidence codes
q is the design tier, i the impact, n the sample, and the kind with its r
the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.
This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.
q3 i2 Among high-school students in a real computer-mediated sociocognitive conflict, mastery goals significantly predicted reported partner competence (η² = .06), while performance goals did not. → Darnon 2006

Study 2 regression (63 tenth-graders in a computer-mediated cooperative task with prerecorded disagreeing answers) showed "mastery goals sig- nificantly predicted reports of the other's competence" (B = 0.38, η² = .06); performance goals and the interaction were non-significant.
"As expected, mastery goals sig- nificantly predicted reports of the other's competence ( B /H110050.38), t(55) /H110052.26, p /H11021.03 (/H92572 /H11005.06). The more participants endorsed mastery goals, the more they thought their partner was competent."
Discussion¶
Learner Variables¶
- Achievement Goal Orientation — predictor: learners who differ on it differ in outcomes
Related Claims¶
- After a sociocognitive conflict, mastery goals predict interest in task information while performance goals predict interest in the grade — related
- Performance goals predict assertion of one's own competence after a real sociocognitive conflict — related
- Mastery goals positively predict self-reported epistemic conflict regulation in an imagined sociocognitive conflict — related
- Performance goals regulate conflict with more-competent others toward competitive (approach) or protective (avoidance) interpersonal behavior — related
