Subclaims¶
Reading the evidence codes
q is the design tier, i the impact, n the sample, and the kind with its r
the rigour judged within that kind: what each code means.
This claim: no standardized effect is recorded in observations/ for it yet, so no benchmark reading is possible.
q3 i0 The authors report the hypothesised negative relation between teachers' SRL promotion and students' perceived cost as not confirmed; for student-reported SRL promotion, at the class level it was nonsignificant, and at the student level the bivariate correlation was negligible (r = −.04), though marked significant in Table 1. → Johannes Jud 2024

q3 · i0 · associational · r2
Full-perspective MSEM and correlational analyses (167 teachers, 2,785 students), with SRL promotion as students reported it. The article is internally inconsistent on cost: its discussion of H2b says "no significant correlation was found on the class or the student level", but Table 1 marks the student-level correlation between student-reported SRL promotion and cost as significant (r = −0.04*, p < .05), and the results text calls it a negative relation. At the class level the correlation and the MSEM path were nonsignificant. At the student level the association is, on either reading, negligible in size. Equivalence was not tested.
"Our hypothesis H2b, assuming negative relations between teachers' SRL promotion and students' perceived costs, could not be confirmed, as no significant correlation was found on the class or the student level."

Related Claims¶
- Student-reported SRL promotion is associated with students' self-efficacy, utility value and attainment value for SRL at class and student levels, but not with perceived cost — related
- Teachers' self-efficacy for SRL promotion shows significant indirect effects on students' self-efficacy, utility value and attainment value via teacher- and student-reported SRL promotion, with no indirect path to cost — related
- Perceived teacher scaffolding is associated with more surface- and deep-level strategy use during the performance phase of SRL — related
- No significant direct effects exist between teachers' motivation to promote SRL and students' SRL motivation — related
