q2 · i? · associational · r1
Likert items on future inclusion of AI videos in coursework, from the same post-survey of 170 students. Comfort with AI videos as instructional material was nearly evenly split (46% agreeing, 39% disagreeing, 𝜇= 3.00), while these two items drew clear opposition.
"68% of 170 students disagreed that they would prefer AI videos over videos recorded by their instructor or course staff (𝜇= 2.06, 𝜎= 1.06; only 10% agreed), and 62% disagreed that they would trust information in an AI video as much as in a human-presented one (𝜇= 2.24, 𝜎= 1.14; 17% agreed)."

Related Claims¶
- Guo et al. found engagement depends on video production style: short videos, talking heads on slides, Khan-style drawing more engaging than slides or coding, classroom recording weak online — the general claim this finding bears on, with the studies behind it
- Only half of students could clearly tell the AI-generated videos were AI-generated, the item with the highest variance — related
- Human embodiment in video: perceived social presence benefits learning ratings, but instructor-face inclusion shows no significant learning-performance difference, and learners prefer human over robot presenters with mixed recall — related
- Students scored an average of 4.3 out of 5 on a Markdown quiz after watching the AI-generated videos, suggesting short-term learning — related
- Computing students rate short AI-generated Markdown videos favorably across quality, comprehension, and accuracy dimensions — related
- Non-users cite lack of training, distrust of responses, preference for teaching staff, academic-integrity fear and lack of interest as reasons for not using chatbots — related
- Practitioners near-universally reject AI as a replacement for instructor expertise while affirming its supportive, collaborative role — related
- Student ratings of the AI-generated materials ranged from an average of 8.5 to 9.9 out of 10 across validated modules, based on over 600 voluntary anonymous evaluations. — related
- Adult learners emphasize human-in-the-loop AI design that keeps final learning decisions with learners and instructors — related
- Mean rank ordering of the four video types was stable across both course offerings, with hypothetical human-recorded personalized videos ranked highest and AI-generated non-personalized lowest — reports the opposite
- Graduate students rated AI-generated weekly readings as effective preparation, with 75% agreeing they learned more than in a comparable course without AI assistance — related
- Students preferred AI-generated personalized videos over human-recorded non-personalized videos in direct comparison — reports the opposite
- Nearly nine in ten students ranked a personalized video as their top choice — related
- Students preferred human-recorded over AI-generated videos when personalization was held constant, but this effect was smaller than the personalization effect — related
- Participants reported preferring learning from videos over learning from digital texts — related
