Quasi-experimental multilevel regression analysis of 781 Tutor Trust mathematics tutees from 24 schools against 100,991 comparison pupils from Manchester's statistical neighbours, controlling for prior attainment, gender and FSM eligibility. The results table prints an effect size of +0.05 ("+1 months") for all pupils in mathematics. The evaluators state the absence of a high-quality comparison group made attribution impossible.
"On average, pupils receiving mathematics tuition achieved slightly higher mathematics GCSE scores than pupils in the comparison group. On average, pupils receiving Tutor Trust English tutoring achieved lower English GCSE scores than pupils in the comparison group.
