Description¶
The CCSR steering committee is a deliberately multi-partisan advisory body of 23 members representing institutional members (CPS, the Illinois State Board of Education, the Chicago Principals and Administrators Association, the Chicago Teachers Union) and individual researchers, civic leaders, and reform advocates, meeting six or seven times each school year. Its five tasks are 'giving input into the research agenda, reviewing research designs, shaping the interpretation of preliminary results, providing feedback on final reports, and assisting with dissemination.' Beyond improving research, the committee builds the city's capacity for reform dialogue and turns members into champions who translate findings into policy and practice.
