Description¶
An online credit recovery version of Algebra I offered the summer after ninth grade, evaluated in the Back on Track Study against a standard face-to-face version in 17 Chicago Public Schools high schools. Students who failed Algebra I were randomly assigned to one of the two summer course formats, with 1,224 ninth graders enrolling in a second-semester Algebra I course for credit recovery. The study, funded by IES and conducted by AIR and the University of Chicago Consortium in partnership with CPS, tests whether online credit recovery promotes credit recovery more effectively than traditional summer classes.
