Description¶
The report defines "powerful learning" as "experiences that engage learners' hearts and minds," characterized by being personal and accessible, collaborative and connected, authentic and challenging, and inquisitive and reflective. It models powerful learning as a multiplicative product of three indispensable factors: meaningful use, inclusive access, and school leadership. The multiplication is deliberate: "if any of the three factors is a zero, the chance for powerful learning with technology is also likely to be zero." This framing grounds the report's guidance for principals and district pipeline design.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- All three factors—meaningful use, inclusive access, and school leadership—must be present for powerful learning to be realized
Constraints¶
- The framework is Digital Promise's position based on ten years of experience and research with schools and districts, in the context of virtual learning
Target Learners¶
- K-12 students in virtual and blended learning environments
Target Learning Objectives¶
- high-quality, equitable learning with technology across curricular standards and skills
