Description

This intervention taught self-determination skills to middle school students with intellectual disabilities using an alternating-treatments design: "middle school students with intellectual disabilities alternately learned problem-solving and study planning skills linked to language arts, science, and social studies standards." Each intervention condition was compared against an alternating control group within the same students. Both intervention groups showed significantly more capacity on the targeted skill than the control condition, and all students achieved goals at better than average levels.
