Description¶
The study's core instruments are a brain-based teaching-learning program and a chemistry achievement exam. "The researchers prepared the teaching- learning program which consisted of 14 study plans that covered the topics of electrochemical cells, acids, bases and mine rals", built according to BBL theory and its five stages and validated by experts on objectives, language, stages, strategies, scientific accuracy and tests. The achievement exam was "prepared in 30 items upon multiple choice selection", verified by nine chemistry teachers and academics, with a test-retest stability coefficient of 0.86 over a 21-day gap.
Design Implications¶
Context¶
Requirements¶
- Expert validation of plans and exam; stability established by test-retest on an exploratory sample of 25 students at another school
Constraints¶
- Content limited to electrochemical cells, acids, bases and minerals from the ministry's 9th-grade textbook; applied in the 2014/2015 second semester
Target Learners¶
- 9th-grade female chemistry students
Learning Goals¶
- chemistry achievement in electrochemical cells, acids, bases and minerals
